CONTACT

Q: How can we work with each other?

A: The best way is to join the Learning Garden. Plus, I sometimes announce events where I offer services or groups, online or physically. There are several ways we can connect one-on-one. While I prefer referrals by word of mouth, will welcome anyone well-intentioned with an open mind. Click a topic to learn more about: body art sessions, herbal care, remote energy work, astrological analysis, + spiritual advisory. I am not presently offering card readings by booking, though I still do oracular work with mentorship, events, spiritual advisory, or body art sessions. Prospective collaborators can email me a proposal.

Q: Do you give support to survivors?

A: Yes, I provide supplementary care + referrals. If you're asking about case management, then no (please contact an emergency service). What I can do, includes offering survivor-oriented + trauma-informed care through any of the services you see here. I can also direct you to who may be able to help if I cannot, + suggest you check out the Resources page or Blog for free content. Some free content, you may have to email to ask for, so we can keep it secure + in the right hands. If you are a company, collective or organization seeking how to better understand + support survivors: I do offer consultation + ethics oversight.

Q: Do you offer sliding scale or scholarships?

A: Yes, to BIPOC (Brown or Indigenous, people of color, including Asian), transgender, Intersex, homeless individuals + refugees. I can only offer scholarships for services, not for materials, + cannot offer them all of the time to conserve my well-being. They are awarded by discretion, dependent on situation + what service it is for. I will not reply to implied or demanded free labor. Internships are an alternative option, open to  all.  Sliding scale  opportunities  are  situationally  based  on  need.

:: Origins ::

Lenapehokink native + traveler of Algonquian territories.  Whose land are you on?

Federal Definition of Doulas for Turtle Island (the United States) is as follows: "Doulas are nonclinical trained professionals who can provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, delivery, and after childbirth." - ASPE Doula Issue Brief

My service is a rarity in the doula realm, in the sense that I do have clinical and non-clinical certifications, resulting in a more wholesome approach to care. This is not common for doulas: what allows me to expand my practice is additional training and certification. I also adopt traditional ways, within the scope of advocacy and the medical model, in compliance with state protocols. The work of doulas has been generationally grassroots, and is only rooting more into the medical field with recent decades. Some doulas do not undergo formal coursework, and learn through inherited family knowledge or other training methods. Personally, I feel that the clinic must meet customs with equal reverence, to honor a high standard of care. There is no current federal legal precedent for a doula, other than functioning as an advocate, to the level of their individual scope.

The doula's advocacy is centered around supporting the patient's rights, decision-making, needs throughout the experience, and autonomy. Doulas are there to help you make your own calls about your pregnancy, delivery, aftercare, and for your baby. They are never going to make decisions for you, or your family. We are meant to expand your options and resources, as an arm of your support system.  When an advocate also has clinical training and is a medical professional, it is a different level of care than a family or friend. Some professional patient advocates, do not do medical advocacy, because of the limits of available training.

My specialization:

Enx's Story

The roots

"I've seen so many shades of being, + shifted through many myself. From a ripe age, defining myself apart from destructive dysfunction of my environment became a resounding need; the rest followed suit. Openly adoring all things hardcore or obscure, +  inspired by joy from silver linings, I set out to pursue art. A raw, real, + immutable creative force. As a neurodivergent survivor, such a true avenue for expression became holy - my inner child knew doing so was an act of reclamation and rebellion. That instinct was my first healer, + lead me to learn from many: art form or human, alike.”

blooms sprouted from concrete

"As years went on, early impressions left by East Bay Punx playing from old walkman radios + encounters with the paranormal, primed me for the road to come. I set out to pursue body art young, gaining soulful footing while learning the world. During this time, the craft that I call Imprinting became my guide. It instructed so clearly in how these crossovers inseparably bridge artistry as a healing method, with body marking, ritual + cultural history. Going into the industry, closed-mindedness came as a shock, ironically. It was a time before Instagram tattooers or handpoke fads. There was little acknowledgement towards native roots of the craft, or how body arts came to be at all. Which, has only shifted in the public eye again with recent years. This lit my fire. Inspired by sacred tattooing to awaken a sense of fortitude, I began tapping into an interconnected approach of art, traditional medicine, alternative therapy, + herbalism. Lines drawn between modalities morphed into a wholesome view of life’s Canvas, revealing a loom full of remedy.”

Branching Out

“To piece together fragments of value from each experience, we each take part in a transmutation process. The beginning doesn’t look like the end, the Canvas changes constantly. Throughout time, practices dearest to me developed into different projects. Thus Sacred Pokes, my book Two Spirit Traditions, and the Garden of Eeden have been born. Now symbiotic as a set of wings, these works sing to revitalization in a chorus of their own. The herbs, thread, paint + rhythm guide my narrative as an artist. This Earth, the breath, my experiences and our ancestors guide my approach as a care provider. Through ceremony, visionary art, + psychology, this work refines our liberation. I call back to birthrights of joyful release thorugh primal wisdom. Reconciling humanity’s wounds within ourselves, the pure and unapologetic magick truly creates something beautiful."

“Emergence,” a poem

◌

I shed the scales

that were engrained into my

genetic integrity, so they drop

off my skin

one by one.

From the bones that built

this sanctuary of a body

shelter from the storm,

to the break of a nail

whole, I become.

Within a flame of the

ancestors who brought me here,

I break down my doubt

I demolish my fear

good riddance, my threshold.

Only I will, swiftly and alone

surpass each gateway,

outward from here

this chest pounds courage

into my capillaries, threefold.

By virtue of knowing what

spot is tender on this skull, I hone

its sensitivity, an Achilles Heel

to a hum of heart-space

giving guidance by tone.

Saying “Listen in the cold,

for it is

your Mother.

Sip in the boiling sun,

for it is

your Father.”

I follow suit.

In the presence of extremities,

when my wounds are wet

and faintly dripping

I hear an earthen child calling,

their embrace an honor.

She has chosen her guardian

to be the one who fought for

what’s lashed and plagued her,

taking the whip

instead turning it against

the predator.
