Membership

Core members are those who consistently create with alignment to our values, and participate in community pursuits.
New team members are brought on by consensus, and there is no cost to join.
We are run by BIPOC,* queer + mixed-race creatives or healers, giving a platform where white, cisgender heteronormativity does not have to dominate. Allies are included through positions of support, + are welcome in our public offerings.
We function as a creative family, + therefore have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse.

If you aren't eligible to be a member, you can still apply as an Intern, join the Learning Garden, volunteer, or have us at your event.

Three categories of members presently exist…

1. ARTIST PRACTITIONERS practice their craft as a companion to either holistic medicine, or spiritual guidance. Some methods include: painting, tarot, herbalism, astrology, meditation, pastoral care, breathwork and Art With Intent. Training is offered for new healing arts initiates.

2. CURATORS are the backbone of Sacred Canvas. They may expand our networks, collect or distribute art, plan events, contribute to writing or research, partake in community activism, or exchange wisdom and resources. There are two types of curator: member or volunteer.

3. COMMUNITY ARTISTS articulate their vision through an artistic discipline and are part of Sacred Canvas' fertile soil. Curators work with Community Artists to get their work out there, or in partnership during events. They are independent vessels who find balance when creating in cohesion with like minds.

*BIPOC = "Brown, Indigenous, people of color" including identities such as black, Asian, etc.

Open Applications

Interns

Anyone with sincere interest in our mission, + alignment to our ethics, can ask to become an intern. Currently, we are in need of Research Interns to write posts, help gather references, + archive data. White allies can apply as interns.

Community artists

For those who would like to showcase your work, collaborate on an event, put writing on our bookshelf, or be represented by Sacred Canvas on a flexible basis. Community artists who we build with + trust over time, have the opportunity to become Artist-Practitioners or Curators.

What are you applying for? What are you hoping to experience or receive from that role?
Any prior experience related to the role you are applying for. Do you have a link, resume or CV you can share with us?
Do you have extra need for security measures (survivors, refugees)?
Do you have any criminal history? We are not deterred by minor, victimless offenses.
What is your heritage or cultural identity, if known?
List your primary art forms or skill sets.
Include at least one reference who we can contact.
