Unami Dialect

The central dialect of the Lenape tribe, Unami, is localized to the Turtle clan. It is a root language for many other dialects in the Algonquian language family, in the Northeast Woodlands of Turtle Island. Munsee is the northern neighbor of Unami, and is a different dialect of Lenape. Some words in Unami and Munsee are different, yet some are also very similar!

Online Classes

We meet just about every week, through video conferences. It’s easy and accessible. Study groups are always free. Certain classes are open to all, while specific cohorts focus on teaching Indigenous language to Indigenous peoples, themselves.

Enx Eeden (he/they) is an LGBTIQ Lenape descendant who teaches and studies the Southern Unami dialect. His classes are paced to the students’ needs, friendly, and compassionate learning environments.
